Georgian Literature in Art

Georgian literature was reflected in such an interesting and original way in the illustrations of Esma Baiburt, Mariam Kurdadze and Mariam Samuilova.

Esma Byburt: I wanted to draw those elements and symbols that belonged only to "The Knight in Panthers Skin". This poem is unique in every way, of course. A lot of impressive passages flashed in my mind and then, this is how I put them on paper. Mariam Samuilova: I have a passion for painting that has been going on for years. A good theme always resonates with me in the form of painting. It's kind of an inspiration for me. Georgian literature turned out to be ideal for awakening my drawing muse. Especially the characters of Ilia Chavchavadze's works made an impression on me, and then I put them on paper in this way.

Mariam Kurdadze: For me, painting is an activity that allows me to express and weave my feelings on canvas. My great desire was to show the strength of the Otaraant widow, the resilience of many hardships, which charmed us all with its strength and justice. As for Gandeghil, I saw the importance of spiritual and earthly beauty and wanted to share it with others.
